The National Energy Policy 2025 is Bhutan’s unified framework for achieving long-term energy security, sustainable socio-economic growth, and climate resilience. It consolidates and supersedes previous energy policies, setting a target of 25,000 MW installed capacity by 2040 (15,000 MW hydropower, 5,000 MW solar, and additional contributions from wind, biomass, and geothermal energy). These policies include the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Policy, domestic electricity tariff policy, and Alternative Renewable Energy Policy (AREP).
