The 10-year Plan for Energy Expansion (Plano Decenal de Expansão de Energia, PDE in the Portuguese) is an annual planning document prepared by the Brazil's Energy Research Company (EPE) under the guidance of the Secretariat of Energy Planning and Development (SPE) and the Secretariat of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuel (SPG), both a part of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). It outlines medium-term priorities and investment needs for the energy sector. The 2031 iteration has hydropower capacity steadily decreasing along with plans to diversify in biomass, wind, and solar energy, but this is complemented by fossil gas and oil.
