With the help of this program, the German government hopes to keep track of current advancements in energy research, launch fresh initiatives, and establish objectives for funding and innovation policy in the industry. The following tenets form the foundation of the program:
Because they are viewed as necessary for the effective and intersectional implementation of the energy transition, technology and innovation transfers are seen as urgent.
Direct funding for short-term, topic-specific projects will be increased. The scope of research will be widened to include systemic and inter-systemic challenges related to the energy transition.
The federal government will provide institutional research funding for the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers (HGF).
