This plan provides KRW 3.67 billion in funding for 100% renewable energy demonstration projects in four rural communities. The plan allocates KRW 918 million for each project, and local and provincial governments will provide matching funds. This plan is congruent with the Republic of Korea's target to increase its renewable energy share to 29.2% by 2038, outlined in the 11th Basic Plan for Supply and Demand of Power. The projects will involve solar PV installation and energy efficiency upgrades to demonstrate the feasibility of reducing energy costs and meeting demand through renewable energy. The projects will be conducted over a two-year period. Participating communities will receive an energy diagnostic of their community energy demands; install renewable energy projects in residential, commercial, and community spaces; and carry out building renovation upgrades aimed at increasing energy efficiency.
