In 2023, the government published the National Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy for Aotearoa for the time period 2023-2035. The strategy is accompanies by the EV charging work programme (2023-2026). It sets out to deliver the current and future Emissions Reduction Plans, by ensuring that a charging infrastructure is in place to support the target of zero-emissions vehicles reaching 30% of the light fleet by 2035.
