This plan (Plan Sectorial de Mitigación y Adaptación de Energía) outlines the mitigation measures needed for Chile’s energy sector to meet its NDC and other sectoral targets, namely the 80% of electricity generation from renewables by 2030 and 2040 coal phase-out for the energy sector. It identifies policy measures across electricity generation, electrification, and energy efficiency. It estimates energy efficiency measures to contribute to around 7% of Chile’s cumulative emissions reductions by 2050. The plan also emphasises developing Chile’s green hydrogen economy and includes a target for green hydrogen to make up 15% of final non-electric energy consumption by 2035 and 70% by 2050.
