Since 2016, Peru has required all new and used light-duty vehicles (GVWR < 2500 kg) to meet at least Euro 4 or U.S. Tier 2 emissions standards, while medium-duty vehicles (passenger vehicles > 2500 kg and commercial vehicles < 3500 kg) must comply with Euro 4 or U.S. Tier 2 Bin 5. In 2021, the government tightened these rules by mandating that, from October 2024 onward, light-duty vehicles meet the more stringent Euro 6b or U.S. Tier 3/EPA 2010 standards.
